Developer and CEO of Icona Resorts Eustace Mita had ties to Avalon, New Jersey long before he began building hotels. Eustace’s great uncle owned one of the first hotels in Avalon, The Puritan Hotel, and one of his first jobs was as a bus boy at The Princeton. Avalon was always a second home to Philadelphia native, Eustace, and owning a hotel there had always been his dream.
Commanding a full beachfront block in storied Avalon, New Jersey, the Avalon has been a Shore landmark for 50 years. Eustace recognized the uniqueness of the property and it was the one hotel in Avalon, NJ that fit with Eustace’s vision, to build beachfront properties with stunning views of the ocean. For 15 years he knocked on the door of the Avalon, hoping to convince the owners to sell. Finally, in December of 2015, Eustace’s dream came true. He purchased the hotel and planned to convert the iconic Golden Inn to the Icona Avalon.
Now part of Icona Resorts’ luxury brand of hotels, the new Icona Avalon reopened in September of 2016 with brand new rooms and suites, restaurants, a premiere wedding venue, fitness center*, spa*, and stunning new lobby to ensure guests truly experience the new brand of service and style Icona Resorts delivers.
